Section 1

Acceptance of these terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of www.drrobertjaffe.com and everything offered through it by Robert B. Jaffe, PhD ("Dr. Jaffe," "we," "us," "our"). They apply to every visitor, whether or not you buy anything. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.

Section 2

What we offer

Through this website and related platforms, Dr. Jaffe offers:

• The 48-Question Stress Pattern Snapshot. A free, educational self-reflection assessment with results shown on screen. No human review is included.
• Paid assessments. The Pattern Decoder, the Executive Leverage Map, and the Full Systems Diagnostic, each including a written report and one Results Review with Dr. Jaffe (30, 60, or 90 minutes respectively).
• Individual and couples psychotherapy. Available only to people physically located in California at the time of service.
• Wellness coaching. Non-clinical, goal-oriented support, available by video regardless of location.
• The Pattern Work Program. A group education program for men, currently accepting waitlist signups. Terms specific to the program will be provided before enrollment.
• The women's program. A six-week group program co-led with Dr. Mitra Rashidian, described on its own page.
• Books and written materials.

Each offering is described on its own page. Dr. Jaffe may change, pause, or discontinue any offering with reasonable notice.

Section 3

Assessments are not a diagnosis

Results describe patterns that may be present in your responses. They are a starting point for reflection, not a conclusion about you. If you are concerned about your mental or physical health, consult a licensed professional directly.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or 911. Nothing on this site, and no assessment or email, is an emergency service.

Section 4

Therapy, coaching, and the program are different things

Psychotherapy is a licensed clinical service. Dr. Jaffe is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT #19513). Therapy is available only to people located in California when the session takes place. A therapist-client relationship begins only when you and Dr. Jaffe have agreed to it in writing and completed intake, not by using this website, taking an assessment, sending a message, or booking a consultation.

Coaching is not therapy. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and does not carry the legal protections of a clinical relationship. It is available regardless of where you live.

The Pattern Work Program is a group education program led by a licensed psychotherapist. It is not group psychotherapy and is not a substitute for individual treatment. Participation does not create a therapist-client relationship.

Results Reviews included with paid assessments are structured conversations about your report. They are not therapy sessions and do not establish a clinical relationship.

Section 5

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this website, take an assessment, or purchase any service. By using the site you confirm that you are.

Therapy is limited to California residents as described above. Other offerings are available to eligible adults regardless of location unless a page says otherwise.

Section 6

Payments, refunds, and cancellations

Prices are stated in U.S. dollars on each product or service page and may change. Payment is due at purchase unless a payment plan has been agreed in writing.

Paid assessments. Because the assessment and report are delivered immediately after purchase, they are non-refundable once you have begun the assessment. If you have not started it, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase.

Results Reviews. See Section 7 for scheduling, rescheduling, and expiration.

Therapy and coaching sessions. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged in full. Dr. Jaffe may make exceptions for documented emergencies.

Group programs. Refund and cancellation terms for the Pattern Work Program and the women's program are provided at enrollment and take precedence over this section for those programs.

Payment plans. If you enroll on a payment plan, all scheduled payments are due whether or not you use every part of the service. Missed payments may result in suspended access.

Therapy fees are out of network. Dr. Jaffe does not bill insurance but provides superbills on request for possible reimbursement.

Section 7

Results Reviews

Each paid assessment includes one Results Review of the stated length. The review becomes bookable after you complete the assessment. To keep Dr. Jaffe's calendar workable, reviews must be scheduled and completed within 60 days of purchase; unused reviews expire after that and are not refunded.

You may reschedule once with at least 24 hours' notice. A missed review, or one cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, is forfeited. Reviews are by video or phone, in Pacific Time, and are for the purchaser only. They are not transferable.

Section 8

Confidentiality

Therapy. Information shared within a licensed therapeutic relationship is protected by California law and, where applicable, federal law including HIPAA. Dr. Jaffe will not disclose it without your written consent except where the law requires, including mandatory reporting obligations, which will be explained at intake.

Assessments, coaching, and programs. These are not clinical services and are not covered by therapist-client privilege. Dr. Jaffe treats what you share with care and does not sell or share it with third parties for marketing. Answers and reports from paid assessments are shared with Dr. Jaffe so he can prepare for your review.

Group settings. Group participants are asked to keep what other members share confidential as a condition of participation. Dr. Jaffe cannot guarantee what other participants do with what they hear.

Section 9

Email and communications

When you take the Snapshot, join a waitlist, or send a message, we ask for your first name and email so we can deliver what you requested. We will send marketing or educational emails only if you have ticked the box agreeing to them, and every such email includes an unsubscribe link. Leaving the box unticked does not affect your access to results or a reply.

Email is not a secure channel for sensitive clinical information. Please don't send anything urgent or anything you would not want in an ordinary email.

Section 10

Intellectual property

Everything on this website, including text, images, the assessments and their questions, scoring, reports, program materials, recordings, and the books, belongs to Robert B. Jaffe, PhD and is protected by copyright and trademark law.

You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial reference. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, publicly display, or commercially use any of it without Dr. Jaffe's written permission.

The eight-pattern framework, the Multi-Dimensional Relational Therapy (MDRT) framework developed by Dr. Jaffe and Dr. Mitra Rashidian, the assessment names, and the program names are proprietary and may not be used, taught, or replicated without express written permission.

Section 11

No guaranteed outcomes

Nothing on this site promises a result. The examples in the books and on the site describe patterns Dr. Jaffe has observed over four decades of practice; they are not predictions about you. Where composite or illustrative examples are used, they are identified as such. Any testimonial that appears on the site is from a real client with written consent and reflects that person's experience only.

Your outcome from therapy, coaching, an assessment, or a program depends on many factors, including your own participation.

Section 12

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Robert B. Jaffe, PhD is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this website or anything purchased through it.

Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service that gave rise to the claim in the twelve months before the claim.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

Section 13

Third-party services

This site uses third-party services including a scheduling platform (Calendly), a form-handling service, a payment processor, and links to professional directories. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms. Your use of them is subject to their own terms.

Section 14

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of this website will be heard exclusively in the courts of Los Angeles County, California, and you agree to that jurisdiction and venue.

Section 15

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
